In 2013, MT Space workshopped a piece that united culturally diverse and Indigenous artists to explore global events–Occupy, Idle No More, Arab Spring–that have shaped our current world.

Five years later, that spring has turned to winter. In the midst of a global refugee crises resurgent Indigenous communities across Turtle Island are fighting for control of their lives and lands.

Through the story of a Syrian family who end up refugees on Turtle Island, AMAL reflects on shared histories of displacement, colonization, and artificial borders to ask: what does it mean to occupy, to resist, to survive?
