The Interpretation Lab begins

Our first set of experiments will be held over two weeks this June. We’ve just completed auditions and are so happy to announce the Interpretation Lab’s Core Ensemble members: Marcelo Arroyo, Carlos González-Vio, Ximena Huizi, and Rosa Labordé.

Born in Chile, Marcelo Arroyo has lived in Canada since the age of 8. Skilled in French, English and Spanish, he has worked with several theatre directors and filmmakers. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Drama from Université du Québec à Montréal (1995), he later pursued his studies in acting at the National Theatre School of Canada, graduating in 2000. Presently, Arroyo divides his time between Montreal and Toronto, working in theatre, film and television.

Nacido en Chile, Marcelo Arroyo ha vivido en Canadá desde los 8 años. Hábil en francés, inglés y castellano, ha trabajado con varios directores de teatro y cineastas. Licenciado en arte dramático de la Universidad de Quebec en Montreal (UQÀM, 1995), continuó más tarde sus estudios en actuación teatral en la Escuela Nacional de Teatro de Canadá, graduando en el 2000. Actualmente, Arroyo divide su tiempo entre Montreal y Toronto, trabajando en teatro, cine y televisión.

Ximena Huizi is delighted to be taking on her first professional project with Aluna’s Interpretation Lab. Favourite credits include Vitals with Outside the March, Equus with The Verve, and Trojan women, a love story with Fanshawe College; under the direction of Gil Garrat. She is a graduate from Fanshawe College’s Theatre Arts Program, and also trained with Skena and Teatro Nueva Era in her native Venezuela before moving to Canada to purse her career.

Ximena Huizi tiene el placer de emprender en su primer proyecto profesional Aluna. Créditos favoritos incluyen Vitals con Outside the March, Equus con The Verve, y Trojan women, a love story con Fanshawe College; bajo la dirección de Gil Garrat. Es Graduada del programa de Artes Teatrales de Fanshawe College, Además entreno con Skena Y Teatro Nueva Era en su nativa Venezuela antes de mudarse a Canadá para proseguir su carrera.

Carlos González-Vio is a Toronto based performer and translator and has been working professionally for over ten years. His performance work has taken him from Toronto to Buenos Aires, Prague, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Havana and Bogotá. His stage credits include: The Letter (Co-production with Aluna Theatre), Hallaj (Modern Times Stage Company), Elora Gorge (The Room), La Comunión & Nohayquiensepa (Aluna Theatre), Crave (Nightwood Theatre), and Endings (PassBo Dance).

Carlos González-Vio es un actor y traductor basado en Toronto y ha trabajado en teatro, cine y televisión por más de diez años. También ha trabajado en Buenos Aires, Praga, St. Louis, Los Angeles, La Habana y Bogotá. Sus créditos incluyen: Bodas de Sangre (Modern Times Stage Company/Teatro Aluna), The Letter (Co-producción con Teatro Aluna), Hallaj (Modern Times Stage Company), Elora Gorge (The Room), La Comunión & Nohayquiensepa (Teatro Aluna), Crave (Nightwood Theatre), y Endings (PassBo Dance).

Rosa Labordé is a Chilena-Canadian Actress, Playwright, Screenwriter and Director and divides her time between all four. She has been a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award, the Dora Mavor Moore Award, the Gemini (Canadian Screen Actors Award) and received the K.M. Hunter Artist’s Award for her work in Theatre. Rosa is Co-Artistic Director for Criminal Theatre and is a graduate of The Oxford School of Drama and The Canadian Film Centre.

Rosa Laborde es Actriz, Dramaturga, Guionista y Directora chilena-canadiense, y divide su tiempo entre dichas ocupaciones. Ha sido finalista al Governor General’s Literary Award, el Dora Mavor Moore Award, al Gemini Award (Canadian Screen Actors Award) y ha recibido el K.M. Hunter Artist’s Award por su trabajo en teatro. Rosa es la co-directora artística de Criminal Theatre y es graduada del Oxford School of Drama y del Canadian Film Centre.
