Summer internships at Aluna Theatre

We are hiring two Interns to support Aluna Theatre’s upcoming programming: A Production Assistant and a Digital Marketing Coordinator.
Each position is 9 weeks at 30 hours /week, for $20 /hour.

Scheduling has some flexibility within limits (more weeks at fewer hours, for instance); we do need regular attendance at our studio (1 Wiltshire Ave, unit 124 – in the Junction Triangle), or at venues and outreach partner locations.

Applicant must be: a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person under refugee protection; legally entitled to work in Ontario; and be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment. International students are NOT eligible. You must have a valid SIN number. No applicant can have more than ONE Canada Summer Job at a time.

Job Title: Production assistant

Aluna Theatre is seeking a Production Assistant, made possible through Canada Summer Jobs, to join our team to partner with Aluna Theatre’s Artistic Director andArtistic Producer in the seasonal and daily operations related to Aluna Theatre’s production and artistic programming. The Production Assistant will provide support for Aluna Theatre’s ongoing events and programs throughout the summer and in preparation for the 2026/2027 theatre season. The Production Assistant will have the opportunity to gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into the professional labour market, working with and mentored by Aluna Theatre’s team of staff – Artistic Producer, Artistic Director, and Associate Artistic Producer. You have a willingness to learn and try something new, and thrive working in a fast-paced environment. You are interested in a career in the performing arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To participate in the preparation for the Fall 2026 RUTAS Festival, an international festival of performing arts – including: ensuring all documents and information is received from participating groups, including artist bio information, program information, images, and production information, including technical requirements, equipment lists, running times, and cast lists
Providing support for the Aluna Studio, including venue/ facility management, schedule management, and invoice creation for use of studioUpdating website with current informationProvide technical support for artist and artist collectives for their time booked at the Aluna Studio
Provide administrative support to Aluna Theatre in preparation for the 2026/2027 season including the following:
• database clean up and data entry for new contacts from recent productions, including audience members, media contacts, artist contacts, and partner contacts
• working with the producer to create critical paths for Aluna Theatre’s operations, production and programming activities, and marketing calendar

Because this is in part a learning position, other duties as opportunities and needs arise in the course of the term, if identified and agreed by both parties, may become an additional task for the Production Assistant.

REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Qualifications
Must be able to work in Canada and be between the ages of 15-30 years
A student or recent experience working in the arts in a technical theatre roleStrong organizational skills and attention to detail
Positive, professional attitude to work with artists and the public
Willingness to learn and try something new
Ability to show initiative and extremely dependable
Computer skills: familiarity with Google Suite, Dropbox, Office 365, including excel,word, PowerPoint, and outlook. Experience with Mailchimp and Canva an asset
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Job Title: Digital marketing coordinator

Aluna Theatre is seeking a Digital Marketing Coordinator, made possible through Canada Summer Jobs, to join our team to partner with Aluna Theatre’s Artistic Director and Artistic Producer in the seasonal and daily operations related to Aluna Theatre’s production and artistic programming. This is a paid Internship.They will provide support for Aluna Theatre’s ongoing events and programs throughout the summer and in preparation for the 2026/2027 theatre season. They will have the opportunity to gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into the professional labour market, working with and mentored by Aluna Theatre’s staff.You have a willingness to learn and try something new, and thrive working in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing Meetings: Attendance at regularly scheduled weekly meetings with Aluna Theatre staff to generate marketing materials and messaging
Strategy: building and tracking a marketing plan for RUTAS 2026 based on company goals and in reaction to milestones and important events in RUTAS’ critical path -Example: responding promptly to media publications for posts, story shares, etc
Editorials & Creativity: collaborating with Aluna Theatre staff at the regular weekly meetings for social media postings, conceiving, creating graphics and copy, scheduling, and posting as required (instagram, facebook)
Advertising: incorporating online and print ads into the Festival marketing campaign; preparing and distributing share kits for cross-promotions and local media exposure; research ad placement in traditional and online media
Gather and document weekly analytics for Aluna Theatre’s social channels and online ads
Build and maintain the Festival Website leading up to RUTAS 2026
Keep a file system of all content and analytical data created, which shall become property of The Theatre (use within the Intern’s’s portfolio or other non-profit use shall not be reasonably withheld).
Work within established budget amounts
Outreach: Build, maintain, and track an Outreach Plan for RUTAS 2026 based on The Theatre’s existing outreach database
Develop, update and maintain a Festival Outreach Database, including schools and universities, spanish media, spanish speaking community groups, arts organizations, and community organizations
Develop and distribute outreach materials to outreach database, including community discount codes as neededFollow up communications and confirm student/community group bookings with partners;
liaise with Aluna Theatre staff to finalize ticket bookings and invoicing
Connect with communities (companies, schools, theatres, etc.) to build collaborative connections, including monitoring the outreach email and direct messages (instagram,facebook);
research potential new outreach partners and events in the GTA
Develop strategies to attract current and new audiences to Aluna Theatre’s work
